Savvis to block spammers

The BBC is reporting that Savvis is now going to make efforts to prevent spammers from operating on their network.
I must admit that I've never even heard of them, but apparently they are the world's second largest ISP.

Apparently after a buyout of the American arm of Cable and Wireless (I have heard of them), Savvis inherited enough spammers from that network to bump them up to having nearly 150 of the top spammers in the world on their system.

After a legal wrangling, it now looks like Savvis will either have to boot their spammers (which they were making a lot of money off of), or risk getting their entire network (and with that all of their clients) blocked by RBL systems like Spamhaus.

While getting rid of 150 of the world's worst spammers sounds like a good thing (and it is!), this is of course not a permanent thing. Surely the spammers that will be seeing the effects of this decision are already moving base to some other provider that will allow them.
But for a few days (hours?) at least we should see a dramatic reduction in Viagra and porn spam.
