The Bay area... looks as if it is not immune to spam

This article in the Oakland Tribune is excellent. And by "excellent", I largely mean "amusing" in its Bay-centric stance on the spam issue.

They start off with:

BUSINESSES AROUND the Bay continue to be inundated by spam, despite the federal anti-spam act that took effect Jan. 1 and major anti-spam efforts by Internet service providers such as EarthLink and America Online.

I am not trying to make it sound like I think I am some sort of global spam expert or anything - but I would like to state at this point that spam is in fact still sent out to anyone and everyone in the world - regardless of whether or not one lives/works in the Bay area.
Spammers have some nerve inundating users with spam, even after the CAN-SPAM Act went into place. Of course we can just totally ignore the fact that spammers don't tend to pay much attention to the whole "legal system" (and for good reason since they are usually just smacked on the wrist at best). While we are ignoring things, we may as well also ignore the fact that the CAN-SPAM Act doesn't really do much to stop spam - it just gives the opportunity to sue those that aren't complying with the act... although to be fair, from multiple reports, it appears that hardly anyone at all is complying with said Act.

The article then goes on to show us that spam filters can in fact... well, filter out spam.

Incredible really, thanks.
