Florida is spamming central

There are always reports coming out on who sends the most spam, what country receives the most spam, and what countries seem to complain the most about it (and rightfully so).
Currently the biggest spammers are located in North America, and then tend to use servers elsewhere (Russia and China - and the Russian based ones technically feed out to zombied computers all over the world, but especially China).

This report says that most of the big spammers are out of Florida - which may or may not be true.

It certainly was the case back in the day when spammers sent directly out of a bank of modems in their homes - they would routinely show on the news a group of trailer parks in Florida that were full of spammers. They liked the location due to the ease of picking up and disappearing, as well as the legal structure there.

That is what the article states, even though the data might be dated (even though it is a recent article):

Florida is relatively attractive to folks who are running scam-type operations because it has very favorable personal bankruptcy laws," Mozena said.
"If they get sued, they're able to hold on to a lot more of their personal possessions."

So beyond just the nice weather, spammers like Florida for the legal system that won't punish them too harshly if they are even caught.
