AOL is auctioning off a spammer's Porsche

AOL is auctioning off a spammer's Porsche (Boxster S) that it got in a lawsuit.

Spammers are the same as any other type of con man or swindler, they are going to deal as much as they can in cash and retain their assets in items purchased with cash. That way they look poor on paper - their bank account may not have millions in it, but they might have a lot of toys.

With eBay these days, they can even stay semi-liquid this way if they want - auction off items as they need cash.

Well, AOL has won one spammer's Porsche and they are auctioning it off. It will be interesting to see what comes of this - it should prove to be an increasing trend.

What of spammers that hit smalller ISPs, but in volume (100 smaller ISPs instead of just AOL) - the smaller ISP might not have the resources to fight them in court... time will tell.
