About Us

This site exists to discuss spam and its effect on us. Spam, junk e-mail, has become a household term that is globally known as a problem. This site will discuss why spam exists in the first place, the psychology behind computer users that make them fall for the scams (or legit products that are mass marketed as the case may be). What makes the spammers do it and how they get away with it. This site will discuss different strategies to block spam and how well those techniques work, as well as the technology behind them.

To break from the entirely serious nature of the frustrating issue of massive amounts of junk mail, and the dry nature of the tech talk, this site will also occasionally chronicle responses to the spam and any ensuing e-mail exchanges/conversations that ensue. As well as a few other discussions that question what control we have over our public and private space and how that changes in the context of the internet.

This site is hosted on a dedicated server at Pair Networks and the main contributing author, Eric Smith, lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts and runs his own tech consulting business. Eric spends most of his time writing software for hedge funds and law firms, and administrating Windows networks. At home he uses an Apple Powerbook, Mac Pro, IBM ThinkPad T60p, IBM ThinkPad X60 and also manages the several other blogs and sites.
